| 5-7 August 2011 Anam Cara Writer’s and Artist’s Retreat Eyeries, Beara, Co. Cork, Ireland. The next writing workshop retreat from The Beara Writing Experience will take place around the festival of Lughnasa, which marked the year’s turning. Looking backwards, Lughnasa was a presentation of the first fruits; looking forward, it marked the earth’s slow decline to winter. The winners of the 2011 Cardiff International Poetry Competition were announced last week with first prize being awarded to Malcolm Watson with Mario Petrucci taking second prize and Richard Halperin winning third place. Five equal runners-up in the competition were: Nina Boyd, Rishi Dastidar, Mary O'Donnell, Lesley Saunders and Karen McCarthy Woolf. | |

Poetry Ireland Éigse Éireann and Schools Across Borders Creative Writing Project Schools Across Borders is an organisation that aims to empower young people to form and express their own opinions freely. Now in its third consecutive year, SAB and PI piloted this new programme over the 2008/2009 school year, and we hope to begin another Creative Writing Project programme with this year’s students from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Palestine and Israel.
